Success stories with our clients
Denis is one of the best web accessibility experts in North America, in addition to having solid UX skills. This expertise was most precious in past projects, where Bell had to make a major shift to integrate accessibility into its processes. Throughout the projects, I had the most wonderful experience working with Denis. His positive approach and his creativity enabled us to find incomparable solutions to the many challenges that stood in our way. During a project, Denis encourages everyone to think about design and welcomes each thought with an open mind. His contribution to the transformation of Bell.ca was exemplary.

Around 2005, the Quebec government decided to establish a set of standards to help ministers and public organizations make their informative and transactional web sites accessible to people with disabilities. At a time when web accessibility expertise was scarce, Denis was already ahead of the curve and the Quebec market. An outstanding collaborator, Denis may have provided me with the best consulting experience I’ve had during my 34-year career as a Quebec public servant. During the six years of our collaboration, Denis regularly demonstrated his ability to listen and his open-mindedness, all cemented by his great sense of humour and good mood.

Usually Denis is the smartest guy in the room. When it comes to accessibility, he adapts on the fly to a changing conversation regardless of its complexity and then injects insightful information. But even with his high accessibility acumen, he never dominates the conversation or makes someone with less acumen feel irrelevant. He considers all the players in a conversation as worthy, and listens well. He makes collaboration easy and has become my go-to guy.

Thank you Denis for all your insights and lessons during our accessibility training sessions. You were a great teacher, explaining concepts in an easy-to-follow manner and with great examples! The pop quizzes were also a nice interaction during the talks. The information we learned will be very valuable when we review the current design system and when we build new components and patterns for it in the future. You also created a lot of awareness within our team, which is great!

Denis’ class engagement, pacing, and knowledge were all excellent. It was easy to see that inclusion is something he cares about quite a bit, which made the instruction that much better and relatable. Easily the most engaging instructor I’ve had for this course. I particularly liked how Denis provided context, not just from a legal standpoint, but also from the standpoint of being able to conceptualize for people without accessibility issues as well. How it can feel to be excluded from using the web, and how even the onset of age or ‘a really bad day’ can put you in that situation (temporarily or for life). I will definitely recommend this bootcamp.

Did you know?
Designing content for your perceived average users is a flawed concept that potentially leaves a large portion of your audience behind. Indeed, most people have jagged profiles with characteristics that will prevent them from perfectly fitting the mold. By designing for extremes and stress cases such as disabilities and other potential barriers, your brand can ensure that all of your audience is implicitly included. Do you rely on everyone fitting that perfect mold of yours?
